The Chapel of Simon of Cyrene in Jerusalem is a Catholic place of worship located along the Via Dolorosa in the Old City of Jerusalem. This chapel marks the fifth station of the Way of the Cross and was built in 1895 by the Franciscans. Inside, the chapel is simply decorated, with bare stone walls and ceilings and a marble floor. An inscription on one of the lintels of the door recalls the verse from the Gospel of Luke related to Simon of Cyrene. In addition, next to the main door there is a small niche that, according to tradition, represents the point where Jesus rested his hand to keep his balance while Simon helped him.
